and it was me! I turned 29. Yup, my days as a twenty-something are numbered. Life is good though, so no worries about what the calendar says. Here's the good stuff from the past week:
- Lila said to me on Monday, "Mommy, your tummy shrunk small!" Haha, at least she's not asking why my tummy is squishy anymore (which it still is).
- Walt napping well and being happy when he's awake.
- Lila trying more new foods and eating more of a variety.
- Darren's excitement and progress on a new children's app he's working on in his spare time.
- Lemon zucchini bread...thank you Pinterest!
- The weekend's Bountiful Basket had vanilla beans in the tropical pack!
- Naps! Once again me and littles had our own naps at the same time...pure bliss! I love cuddling with my babes, but sleeping alone is pretty nice too.
- Shopping with Lila (Walt was there too, but sleeping in the carseat on the stroller :) Lila was very excited to try on the hats.
- Being available to pick up Darren when his allergy appointment didn't go too well. He had a bad reaction to the large dose of allergy shots he was given at his appointment on Tuesday and the doc had to use the Epi pen on him. The doc had Darren call me to pick him up, since he didn't want him driving himself home. I'm so glad me and the kids were showered, dressed, and ready to go when he needed us (some days it seems like we're in pj's until afternoon).
- Darren stayed home on my birthday (Wednesday) since he still wasn't feeling great after the Epi pen incident. Although it wasn't a great reason why he stayed home, it was nice to have him around all day for my birthday.
- Lila and Walt let me sleep in until 9 on my birthday and it was the BEST gift. Lila also helped me bake a birthday cake, which she was very excited to do (mostly because she badly wanted to lick the beaters).
- Lila giving me a photo shoot on my birthday. She was so giddy and adorable taking my picture over and over and over again. It was the first time I'd let her try out the camera (it's pretty heavy for her, not to mention breakable!) and she enjoyed it so much we had it do it again the next day.
- The weekend was nice. We all went to pick up the Bountiful Basket and took Darren for a haircut. We had plans to go to the Texas state museum for the once-a-month free admission Saturday, but we opted to stay home and have naps instead. I'm so glad we chose naps, because we all had nice long ones (I took the shortest nap at 1.5 hours)! After naps Darren took Lila to the pool at the gym while me and my boy bonded, then we went and claimed my free birthday dinner at Carrabba's. It was a very good weekend.
Pics from the week:
Lila and I were at Burlington browsing the hats and handbags and she insisted I try on the ugliest hat they had, hehe.
Lila with the birthday cake we made for me. We made a 6" vanilla cake using this recipe (it's WAY good!) with chocolate coconut frosting. The 6" cake was perfect for the three of us for three nights of cake. Yum.
Photograph by Lila. Me at age 29. Happy birthday to me!
My photographer requested I give her some goofy faces...
fake surprise...
giving the camera some fake love...
and a head shake for good measure!
Then it was Lila's turn in front of the camera with a head shake...
and pretending to be asleep! Silly girls. I look forward to more silly photo shoots throughout the years with this girl :o)
Getting ready to eat the cake (FINALLY! Lila begged to eat that cake ALL day :)
Walt hanging out in the pack'n'play
Lila being cute on my bed
Walt not interested in anymore pictures
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that we went across the street to the splash pad for the first time this year. It's already been in the 90's, so it's definitely warm enough to go get wet!
Walt stayed awake for the outing to the splash pad, but he just chilled in his seat.
