Ups and downs

We had a roller coaster of emotions with Lila this week. I'll spare you the "downs" and be thankful for the "ups" I had with my girl. Monday Noosa yoghurt. If you haven't tried this stuff, save your pocketbook and your tastebuds and stay far away! I don't often buy yogurt since everyone else in the house is on a dairy-free diet, but this was on sale one day the packaging just caught my eye, so I tried it. Um, I've never had more delicious yogurt in my life. Seriously. So. Good. Going to the grocery store is not my favorite chore, but I am so grateful there are grocery stores to go to! Sometimes I think how hard it would be to do without all the little luxuries I take for granted each day, and I remember how thankful I am for those things that aren't my favorite but sure make my life easy. A spur of the moment mommy-daughter date with Lila. We we're having a rough day and even though I just wanted to be by myself once Darren got home, I k...

Home sweet home

You know what made coming home to Texas so great? My own bed. Twelve nights away from home made that first night back in my own bed feel awesome. Coming home to 88 degrees at 1am wasn't so cool, but Texas is starting to feel kind of like home. Mostly because all of our stuff is here, but also because we have friends and work here.  This week I was thankful for... ...safe travels ...practically perfect children (at least in regards to airplane travel--they really were the best) ...coming home to a clean house ( thanks Mom for teaching me to leave the house clean before leaving town! ) ...finding a $10 Kohl's coupon in the mail ...sushi at Happy Sumo before we left Utah ...editing the 600+ photos I took down to 270 (still working on getting that number lower...) ...playdates for Lila--one in Utah with old friends, and one here at home in Texas  ...unpacking everything and doing laundry within 24 hrs of being home ...cooking dinner for the family ...war...

Vacation time

Monday Walt fell asleep in my arms while we were at a friends house this morning. Comparatively, when we're at home for nap time Walter usually rubs his eyes and that's the signal that he wants to be swaddled and put in the swing for his nap. It was a rare treat to hold him and have him fall asleep in my arms. He's such a good baby :) Lila was finally convinced to clean up her toys and have a shower before dinner when I told her she would be awarded with a medal for accomplishing those tasks. The Olympics sure are helping with my parenting these days :) (Darren brought a "medal" home a couple weeks ago after a work-sponsored go-carting activity where he took first place.) Dinner was ready when Darren got home. Woot! We think we finally eliminated the skunk smell (we may need someone to come over and confirm this since we're pretty used to the smell now). The rest of the week: I was grateful that I packed our bags in plenty of time and remembered every...
