Baby Mary Janes

I just can't help myself! Being the mother of a little girl, I just want to make her more and more cute little things to wear! 

Now that classes and finals are over, I have a little more time for my crafts. In the last couple of weeks I did work on some of these crafts, since they helped me to relax a little from my studies. Last night I finished the little white Mary Janes so Lila could wear them to church today. I'm kind of impressed with myself for making them. I found this tutorial on a website that showed you how to draft your own pattern for shoes and that's what I did! Of course this was another craft inspired by some things I've seen on Etsy.  My little shoes didn't quite turn out as cute as the ones other people are making. Still, I had fun making them and now they can be a little heirloom for Lila. In the picture above, the little yellow shoes were my first trial pair using a pattern someone posted online for a pair of baby doll Mary Janes. When I began making the yellow pair I didn't realize they were sized for a baby doll and not a real baby--that's why they're so tiny! The red Mary Janes are a pair that I crocheted using a pattern that I made up. They're a little too easy for Lila to kick off right now, but maybe she will grow into them!

My next challenge is to try and make my own pattern for baby boy shoes. If I can manage that then I'll really have some cute things I can whip up for baby showers!

I almost forgot to mention my other crafting project. Digital scrapbooking. Well, I haven't exactly scrapbooked any pictures yet, but I did make my blog banner using digital scrapbooking elements. I also did the same with the above image. It's pretty fun, but very time consuming since there's quite a learning curve for me. Cute header!! I saw those shoes on makeitnadloveit.blogspot.com and totally wanted to make some!! I wish I could have brought our sewing machine out here..it would keep me a lot more occupied during Addy's naps. Our office takes in the bottome half of Chicago and top half of Indiana. We'll live in Westville, IN since it's right in the middle of our area. But we're in Ft.Wayne right now since it's 2 hours away and our apts don't open up till May. Anyway, your new crafts you made are so cute! I wish I was with your group to craft together:)

Hey - how's Arkansas?! We almost have everyone here for our office..there's still a few couples coming on Monday when we get to our apts. So far there are about 12 wives and more to come and lots of little kids running around - it's been fun! Hope your move went well and the sales are going great! Tell everyone Hi for me!

Moving of course brings up all sorts of thoughts and feelings. As I declutter and go through all of our stuff I get distracted with the memories that items bring up. Lila is 2!!

Where did the time go? My baby is two and not really a baby at all. We love her to pieces and can't imagine life without her. She continues to learn things quickly and is already starting to read. Just kidding!! Just wanted to see if you were reading my post. Lila loves to learn, but she's not a genius (sorry sweetie--your genes aren't that good!). Lately she's been learning the sounds the letters make (she learned the alphabet at 16 mos.) and by sight she recognizes the words "cat", "dog", "Mom", "Dad", and "Lila." She knows all the colors (although her colorblindness sometimes gets her mixed up on red and green...those darn genes again!), shapes, and numbers 1-15. She enjoys singing, playing the "I Spy" game, running, climbing, going to nursery on Sunday, bike rides, looking at books, and going to the library. Oh yeah, and did I mention that she likes chocolate just as much as I do?? Maybe I shouldn't ha...
