Time is flying by! I probably always say that, but seriously, how are we already half way through the year??
Anyway, not much happened around here this week, and I wasn't good at keeping a daily record of the things I was thankful for, so it's a short list this week.
Anyway, not much happened around here this week, and I wasn't good at keeping a daily record of the things I was thankful for, so it's a short list this week.
- Walt turned 3 months old and he's very healthy and happy. He is also quite an easy baby right now and he sleeps really well (...now if I would just go to bed earlier so I could get lots of sleep too). He likes to grab toys and try to sit up. He smiles and is getting so close to giggling. He loves to be sung to and I'm still his favorite toy. Oh yeah, and he's adorably chubby :o)
- Memorial day; it's always great when Darren has a paid holiday! Especially when I remember the summer sales days where Darren had four years in a row of working on Memorial Day.
- The gym; Darren got me to sign up at the gym he's a member of. It's a really nice gym with lots of classes, indoor and outdoor swimming pools (complete with water slides and shallow splash areas for kids), indoor rock climbing, racquetball courts, and childcare for ages 3 months and up. So I was kind of nervous to go for it because Walt just turned 3 months old on Memorial Day and he's never been out of me or Darren's care, but I decided to give it a go since the membership is just month to month. Well, my first week to the gym and I made it there twice and Walt did great both times. We'll see how next week goes...
- Lila ate chicken! Once upon a time ago when she was the tender age of 1, she would eat chicken. Sometime when she was 2 she quit eating it, but this week I finally got her to try it again. I'm always thankful when she tries different foods, and especially when she decides she likes them!
- I was reminded of the abundance in my life as I had the evening news on one day and saw images of starving African women and children. It brought me to tears to see a mother who was no longer producing enough milk to nurse her starving baby. I feel so incredibly, and maybe unfairly, blessed to have been born in this country to a family who always was able to provide for me. Most of us people in the U.S. are living so much better than so many people in Africa and other war-raged nations. I am truly humbled.
- A family outing to the Texas State History Museum. The first Saturday of the month is free admission, so we took advantage of it! Lila loves to go to museums and we love when they're free. Afterward I dropped Darren and Lila at the train station so Lila could have a train ride. Darren takes the train to work, so he has a month pass and children ride free. That's what we call free fun :o)
- Running two miles in under 18 minutes. My mile pace was 8:51, which isn't impressive, but it's leaps and bounds better than I did with my first post-partum run. Now if only I could get myself to like running. By the last half of my second mile I just want to stop. We'll see if I ever get beyond two miles!

This is the trail I run on across the street from my house. It's beside a lake, so it's very serene and pretty.
I should really go out at sunrise and take some pretty pictures.
