She's 3!!!

The older I get the faster time flies. This past year of life with Lila flew by almost too quickly. I love my little girl so much! Some days I get bogged down by the daily grind, but I'd like to think that most of the time I'm enjoying the sweet moments with my little girl that will one day be memories

The birthday girl was sick with a cold today (and me too...we're on our 3rd colds since Oct...boo). It was a good thing it was Lila's birthday, because we had new toys to play with while we stayed home sick! Thanks to the grandparents for a new game, a princess tea set, and princess sticker books. Even with being sick, me and Lila had a nice play day together watching Beauty and the Beast while we played with her Belle and Ariel dolls, had a tea party, painted with new watercolors, played dollhouse, read fairy tales, napped, and eventually ate some yummy birthday cake. Oh yeah, we also did some dress up with Lila in her new Cinderella dress and me as her fairy godmother (she made me wear her fairy wings and use a dowel for a wand).

Maybe it's because I know there's a baby boy in my belly, but I've been especially cherishing all the fun, girly things that Lila enjoys right now. That might explain why I so quickly whipped up that princess dress and I'm finally letting my girl become immersed in all the Disney princess stuff. I guess I figure this could be the only little girl I ever have, and I should enjoy it to the fullest!

Lila truly is a wonderful little girl and I'm so glad she's part of our family. She's as bright as ever, and she's surprising me every day with how many words she can read...I'm predicting that before her next birthday she'll be full-on reading. As for the potty training I reported on a couple of weeks ago, we've made big progress. Lila hasn't worn a diaper in 8 days!! I think this means I will never buy another diaper for our little girl--YAY!!! Last Monday she woke up and asked to wear panties, and we haven't looked back since. There was a couple accidents, but I'm happy to say that she's #1 trained and has no problem staying dry all night. This is huge for us. I was really thinking she wouldn't be potty trained before her b-day, but she really made great progress last week! We're still working on #2, but I'm just happy to be moving on from our diaper days!

I love you, Lila!!

All the emotions

Moving of course brings up all sorts of thoughts and feelings. As I declutter and go through all of our stuff I get distracted with the memories that items bring up. I've had moments of sadness and feeling like time flies far too quickly. But of all the feelings, the most overwhelming one has been joyful gratitude. All my reflections on these years here in Austin, and most especially this last year have made me realize how far I've come in my life. This year I have achieved just about all I could ever hope for in life. I've come to love life with all it's ups and downs. I've learned how to roll with the punches and keep my chin up when things get tough. I've truly learned to put myself at the top of the priority list. I have more of myself to give than ever before. I've learned how to give and receive friendship. I've come to love and accept myself as I am. I know I am stronger than ever (and not just my muscles, but truly I think I am physically at my...

Going private, send your e-mail to keep reading!!

Well, I've found out that a middle aged man has been coming on my blog and looking at pictures of my children.  I am obviously very uncomfortable with this, so it's time to go private. I'm happy to let any of you continue reading, as long as I know you and know you're not creepy! Just post your e-mail address and I'll add it to the list :o)

Lila is 2!!

Where did the time go? My baby is two and not really a baby at all. We love her to pieces and can't imagine life without her. She continues to learn things quickly and is already starting to read. Just kidding!! Just wanted to see if you were reading my post. Lila loves to learn, but she's not a genius (sorry sweetie--your genes aren't that good!). Lately she's been learning the sounds the letters make (she learned the alphabet at 16 mos.) and by sight she recognizes the words "cat", "dog", "Mom", "Dad", and "Lila." She knows all the colors (although her colorblindness sometimes gets her mixed up on red and green...those darn genes again!), shapes, and numbers 1-15. She enjoys singing, playing the "I Spy" game, running, climbing, going to nursery on Sunday, bike rides, looking at books, and going to the library. Oh yeah, and did I mention that she likes chocolate just as much as I do?? Maybe I shouldn't ha...
