This is why my baby was not born in a hospital!

This picture was taken at an OB/GYN women's center in Provo. I found this on an acquaintances blog and wanted to briefly put in my two cents on the matter.

It is very disappointing to me that medical professionals around here are not interested in letting women have their babies naturally. The facts are out there (see gentlebirth.org)--birth outside of the hospital is safer than birth at the hospital (at least for the average low-risk pregnancy). Maybe you think I'm a little biased, but it's true! I am so glad I did not have to deal with all the negativity at the hospital and I was able to have the beautiful birth experience that I desired. I just hope that anyone I know who at some point wants to try a natural birth at the hospital does not go to the doctors office pictured above! For anyone out there who is interested in natural birth (especially outside of a hospital), feel free to get in touch with me and I will gladly share my experience. You can also check out my post from a few months ago about Lila's birth story. Anyway, for further reading also check out this blog post (Link directly to this entry) about the above picture.

*P.S. When I looked around for prenatal care in Utah Valley last September I did not personally go to the pictured office. The doctor's office I went to instead had a bunch of CNM's, and was recommended to me by a friend. That office didn't jive with me when I found out while reading their paperwork, that they required all women in labor to be given pitocin. That was when I decided to use my direct-entry midwife, Brigitte, at Better Birth and have the experience I wanted.

Hey there. I unfortunately ised this doctor with my 1st pregnancy. I hate this man. He has a reputation for his use of forceps and even gave a friend of mine a c-section without telling her why. I would never recommend Dr. Judd to anybody. I was not respected at all by him. With Leo'd birth, I was so empowered and even when I thought I was losing it, I was told how strong I was by my wonderful midwife.

Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear that your first birth experience was at that very office! But I am so glad that you had such a great experience at home the second time around. You are an inspiration!

Going private, send your e-mail to keep reading!!

Well, I've found out that a middle aged man has been coming on my blog and looking at pictures of my children.  I am obviously very uncomfortable with this, so it's time to go private. I'm happy to let any of you continue reading, as long as I know you and know you're not creepy! Just post your e-mail address and I'll add it to the list :o)

Lila is 2!!

Where did the time go? My baby is two and not really a baby at all. We love her to pieces and can't imagine life without her. She continues to learn things quickly and is already starting to read. Just kidding!! Just wanted to see if you were reading my post. Lila loves to learn, but she's not a genius (sorry sweetie--your genes aren't that good!). Lately she's been learning the sounds the letters make (she learned the alphabet at 16 mos.) and by sight she recognizes the words "cat", "dog", "Mom", "Dad", and "Lila." She knows all the colors (although her colorblindness sometimes gets her mixed up on red and green...those darn genes again!), shapes, and numbers 1-15. She enjoys singing, playing the "I Spy" game, running, climbing, going to nursery on Sunday, bike rides, looking at books, and going to the library. Oh yeah, and did I mention that she likes chocolate just as much as I do?? Maybe I shouldn't ha...

The long version & his name

I started working on this post on Wednesday, but I've been sick with a cold and desperately trying to get rest, so here it is Friday and I'm finally finishing it up! Monday morning I woke up with a sore throat and a cough. I thought I had escaped getting sick like Darren and Lila, but I wasn't feeling great so I slept in until 9am. Me and Lila hung out at home resting all day Monday. I spent so much time on the couch in the living room that I started sketching and making decorating/rearranging plans for the living room. I pinned curtain and art ideas on Pinterest and started pricing out my plans. When a friend invited Lila over for a play date on Tuesday, I started making plans for hitting up the craft store and beginning my living room makeover the next day. After Darren got home and we got Lila to bed, I found some energy and began rearranging the living room and straightening up the house. Then at 10:30pm I decided to do a short yoga practice, took a shower at 11, ...
